dc.description.abstractThe Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe is a movie script written by Ann Peacock. It tells about betrayal of the character, Edmund and also its influence on other characters and himself. Edmund Pevensie is the main character who is described as the third of the four Pevensie children in the movie script. Edmund betrays to his siblings under the White Witch’s influence, but as the story goes on he accepts the error of his ways. The theory used is Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. This thesis uses psychological approach to analyze the fictitious character. The method of analysis in this thesis is inductive method. It analyzes the data from the specific cases to the general conclusion. The application of the method in this thesis begins from the cause and the effects of Edmund’s betrayal and it ends on the impact of fulfillment needs of Edmund’s needs The results of the research shows that the factors that influence of Edmund’s betrayal are to fulfilled of safety needs, love and belongingness needs, esteem needs, and self-actualization needs. The effects of Edmund’s betrayal are on other characters namely his siblings, Aslan, the White Witch, and his life as well. Finally, it is concluded that fulfillment of needs can stimulate Edmund to do betrayalen_US
