dc.description.abstractThe derivate of chalcone has been synthesized from 4’-hydroxyacetophenone and 3,4-dimetoxybenzaldehide by Claisen-Schmidt condensation. This compound is 3(3,4-dimetoxyphenyl)-1-(4’-hydroxyphenyl)-2-propen-1-one. Structure elucidation based on IR and 1 HNMR spectra. The compound isrelatively pure and this can be identified by only one spot from TLC and the range of melting point is narrow. Antioxidant activity of compound with DPPH method showed that the value IC is 318 ppm it can be infered that the antioxidant activity is low. Key words: chalcone, antioxidant, DPPHen_US
