Abstract
Crickets and grasshoppers are insects that are often found in longan plantations.
According to several studies that have been conducted, grasshoppers and crickets
play an important role in plantation ecosystems, including longan plantations.
Grasshoppers can act as pests and crickets can play a role in the decomposition of
soil organic matter. This research aims to determine the types of grasshoppers and
crickets found in the Longan Plantation of Sentool Plantation. The research was
carried out in March 2024 at Longan Plantation, Sentool Plantation, Jember
Regency, East Java. The sampling method for grasshoppers and crickets uses sweep
nets and pan traps. Sampling was carried out six times with an interval of five days.
Then identification is carried out based on morphological characteristics which
include antenna length, pronotum length, location of the tympanic membrane, total
segments in the tarsus, shape and length of the ovipositor. Identification is carried
out using an insect identification book. The results of the research that was carried
out found 4 families, namely Tettigoniidae, Gryllidae, Acrididae, and Tetrigidae.
