Identifikasi Perkembangan Pemukiman di Wilayah Kabupaten Jember Berdasarkan Data Multitemporal Landsat 8 OLI-TIRS
Abstract
Jember regency is a part of East Java province of Indonesia which deals with population growth and the expansion of land use for settlements. The aim of this study is knowing the land use classification and the distribution of settlement area development using remote sensing technology. The supervised classification method using Random Forest algorithm was employed to classify the areas into six classes such as vegetation, water bodies, settlements, grasslands, open land, and rice fields from the years of 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2021. The results indicate that there is a significant growth of settlement areas in in Ambulu districs in 2013, 2019, and 2021. However, despite the inconsistency in this distribution pattern, settlement density does not always align to the width of settlement area. It is found that the highest density occurs in the Kaliwates district in 2021 with 48% of the distric area. This study emphasizes the importance of monitoring and analysis of settlement growth to manage sustainable urban planning in Jember regency.
