Pra Perancangan Pabrik Asam Asetat dari Metanol dan Karbon Monoksida Menggunakan Metode Karbonilasi Metanol (Cativa Process) dengan Kapasitas 25.000 Ton/Tahun
Abstract
The industrial sector is one of the driving sectors of the national economy, one
of which is through chemical plants. Acetic acid is a compound that is widely used as
a raw material in various industries, such as the paint, rubber, plastic,
pharmaceutical, and Purified Terepthalic Acid (PTA) industries. Supply domestic
demand for acetic acid is still dependent on import activities. The acetic acid
production process to be chosen uses the methanol carbonylation method, specifically
the cativa process from the raw materials in the form of methanol and carbon
monoxide with an iridium catalyst. The acetic acid plant will be built in 2027 in the
Pasuruan Industrial Estate Rembang (PIER) area located in Rembang District,
Pasuruan Regency, East Java Province. The factory is planned to have a production
capacity of 25,000 tons/year with an operating time of 330 days/year. The raw
materials for methanol and carbon monoxide needed in this production process are
17,305.2 tons/year and 13,844.16 tons/year, respectively. The production process is
divided into 3 process stages, namely: raw material preparation process, reaction
process, separation process and purification. Based on the results of the economic
evaluation of this acetic acid plant, it is feasible to build with details of a Pay Out Time
(POT) of 2.04 years, a Rate of Return (ROR) of 44%, and a Break Even Point (BEP)
of 49.9%.
