Analisis Sinematografi dalam Memperkuat Unsur Dramatik Suspense pada Film Danur 2 : Maddah
Abstract
Danur 2: Maddah is an Indonesian horror film which was released on 28th March 2018 and was directed by Awi Suryadi. This film is the sequel of the previous film, Danur: I Can See Ghosts. This film is adapted from a novel written by Risa Saraswati, Maddah. Risa, an indigo girl, lived with her younger sister, Riri and her three ghost friends: Peter, William, and Janshen in Bandung. This research applies the suspense theory by Carrol Noel and Thompson and Bowen’s theory of cinematography. Carol Noel’s theory is applied to choose suspense scenes from Danur 2: Maddah related to the statement of the theory itself. Cinematography theory is applied to describe suspense scenes based on the cinematography perspective through the framing (camera angle, type of shot, camera movement) and shot duration aspects. This research also applies descriptive qualitative methods whereas the data collection is in the form of words, pictures, and not numbers. . This research aims to reveal and describe the role of cinematography in strengthening the suspense dramatic elements in Danur 2: Maddah. In addition, this research can provide a better understanding for researchers towards the role of cinematography in strengthening the suspense dramatic elements.
