    Abstract
Antibiotics are a group of drugs that provide clear benefits in the treatment of bacterial infections, and their acquisition requires a doctor's prescription. The use of antibiotics without a prescription is a triggering factor for antibiotic resistance. Pharmacies are common facilities where antibiotics are purchased without a prescription. This research uses a cross-sectional approach design with descriptive analysis techniques. The study sample consists of 42 pharmacies located in four districts in Bondowoso Regency, including Bondowoso District, Tenggarang District, Grujugan District, and Maesan District. The sampling technique used is total sampling, and the instrument used is a questionnaire that has undergone validity and reliability tests. The research results show that the majority of respondents include 23 pharmacists (92%), 15 pharmacy assistants (68,2%), and 1 other staff (33,3%) with good knowledge. A total of 38 respondents (76%) have provided antibiotic services without a prescription, while the remaining 12 respondents (24%) have not. The largest percentage is 30 respondents (78.9%) who mention that the driving factor for providing antibiotics without a prescription in this study is the patient's belief that they need antibiotics based on their symptoms. The knowledge level of most respondents is considered good, but it does not reflect that their service practices are in line with standards. This is evidenced by the high frequency of antibiotic services without a prescription in pharmacies in Bondowoso Regency. It is necessary to emphasize regulations related to antibiotic use as an effort to prevent antibiotic resistance.
