Abstract
This article examines the development of the coastal fishing port in Brondong Village, Brondong District, Lamongan Regency, 1978-1987. The problems studied include (1) Factors that were the background to the establishment of the Brondong Beach Fishing Port. (2) Activities and developments at the Brondong Beach Fishing Harbor in 1978-1987. (3) The impact after changing the status from a Coastal Fishing Port to an Archipelago Fishing Port on the socio-economic life of the community. This article uses historical methods consisting of heuristics, source criticism, interpretation and historiography. Economic sociology approaches and public policy theory are used as tools for analyzing historical events. The results of the research show that fishing activities are carried out centrally at Brondong Harbor, which was founded in 1936 and continues to experience development due to the introduction of fishing machines and equipment in 1970. In addition, the construction of facilities in the form of a Fish Auction Place and Pier at Brondong Harbor in 1975 created Brondong Harbor has status as a Fish Landing Base, this helps increase fish production and fishermen's productivity, so that in 1978 the government formed a Technical Implementation Unit and raised PPI's status to become a Coastal Fishing Port. In 1980, the construction of infrastructure such as basic facilities and functional facilities continued to be carried out as an effort to utilize the natural resources and human resources available at PPP Brondong and was completed in 1987, this changed the status of PPP to become an Indonesian Fisheries Port and had an impact on social life. the economy of the community in PPN Brondong such as fishing technology, share of catches, fishermen's income, absorption of employment opportunities and the emergence of business opportunities.
