Abstract
School-age children with ADHD still need assistance from their mothers in fulfilling their basic daily need. This study aims to determine the mother's experience in caring for ADHD children. The research design used qualitative methods and phenomenological research design. The research method used purposive sampling technique with the number of participants as many as 5 mothers who have children with ADHD. Data collection was carried out using semi-structured interviews conducted face-to-face and analyzed using the collaizi method. The results of this study obtained six themes, namely: fulfillment of basic child care, fulfillment of basic child care, fulfillment of basic child care, parenting stress, accepting the circumstances that occur, and social support. In its implementation, mothers have obstacles in the process of implementing a child's diet because they feel sorry if the child is on a diet that is too strict. In addition, the mother trains the child to dress because the child sometimes dresses untidily, upside down, and cannot button it. Mothers also often pay attention to the child's behavior and habits in everyday life, which often makes mothers experience parenting stress and need social support from people around them. The findings of the phenomena experienced by mothers with ADHD children in this study, it is hoped that health service agencies will more often educate mothers in fulfilling the basic needs of children.
