Pergerakan Kamera Handheld dalam Meningkatkan Ketegangan pada Film Anthropoid

Abstract

To create or build a specific impression in a film, there are two elements of film form that filmmakers need to consider, narrative and cinematic elements. These two elements interact and support each other to create particular impression in the film. Handheld camera movement is part of cinematography and is one of the elements of film form. By utilizing handheld camera movement, filmmakers can effectively increase the suspense and make the audience anticipate the potential risks and challenges faced by the protagonist. Based on this description, there is an interest in proving that handheld camera movement can increase the suspense in Anthropoid film. This research use qualitative research method with a suspense theory approach by Hitchcock to categorize scenes in the film that contain narrative suspense elements. These scenes are then analyzed using the handheld camera movement theory by Boggs and Sijill. Anthropoid is a historical war film based on a true story. The use of handheld camera movement with various types of shots and angles in Anthropoid can increase the suspense and provide a realistic impression to the audience, allowing them to experience the the struggle of the heroes during that time. The audience feels directly involved in the scenes and becomes witnesses to the events that unfold for the characters in the film. The audience can feel an emotional involvement with the characters in this film.
