Pra-Rancangan Pabrik 5-Hydroxymethylfurfural (5-Hmf) Dari Eceng Gondok Dengan Kapasitas Produksi 2000 Ton/Tahun
Abstract
5-HMF plant design from water hyacinth for capacity of 2000 ton/year will
be established in East Kalimantan with an area of 70 ha. The factory operates for
330 days/year and will be build in 2030. The establishment of the plant based on
the increasing need for 5-HMF to produce alternative sources of carbon and
energy. Production of 5-HMF use dehydration process. Water hyacinth will
injected with high pressure steam to remove lignin and hemicellulose, the steaming
process occurs with the operation condition at 22 bar 120oC for 3 minutes.
Afterwards cellulose is hydrolyzed to glucose with the help of sulfuric acid. Glucose
pumped into the dehydration reactor to produces 82% of 5-HMF with the help of
HY zeolite. 5-HMF product from the reactor then flows to flash tank to be purified
to 5-HMF 98%. This 5-HMF company was established in the form of Persero
Terbatas (PT) with the total of 273 employees. According to economic analysis, the
result of TCI Rp. 914.478.365.907,96 with a return on investment for 4 years. Thus
the Break Event Point (BEP) at 44,39%. From the result above this factory feasible
to be established.
