Hubungan Verbal Abuse Orang Tua terhadap Kepercayaan Diri Anak Sekolah Usia 10-11 Tahun

Abstract

In Indonesia, children's self-confidence is included in the low category. The child's low self-confidence because in the past the child was often scolded. Violence against children continuously will have a bad impact, this often happens in families. When parents apply authoritarian parenting styles including high tones and yelling at children, and where children are forced to obey and are not allowed to argue, when children are disobedient there is a very high possibility of verbal abuse in children. This research was conducted to determine the relationship between parents' verbal violence and the self-confidence of school children aged 10-11 years. The research design is descriptive correlation and uses a cross-sectional approach, namely research using time suppression in research that is only carried out once during the study without further research. The test used is the Kendall Tau test. From this test, a p-value of 0.003 was obtained and a correlation coefficient of -0.273. Where the direction of the relationship is negative, so that the more severe the verbal violence, the lower the self-confidence, and the lighter the verbal abuse, the lower the level of self-confidence. the child's self-confidence increases. Therefore, Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected.
