Insiden Aspergillus Dalam Buah Delima Merah Busuk Pasca Serangan Ngengat di Dusun Labuhan Merak Kabupaten Situbondo

Abstract

Moths are the main destructive pests of pomegranate plants and have the potential to be vectors of microbes that cause fruit rot, including molds. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of incidence of pomegranate rot after moth attacks in Labuhan Merak, Situbondo Regency. The study used a sampling method to make a plot with a size of 20 m2 which was divided into 5 sampling points. Sampling and storage of rotten pomegranate samples due to moth attacks was carried out aseptically using scissors, plastic bags, and boxes sterileThen the samples were further identified at the Microbiology Laboratory, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, University of Jember. There were 5 isolates identified, namely A1, A2, A3, A4, and A5 which had the same morphology. The five mold isolates were Aspergillus spp. The results showed that the percentage of moth attacks on pomegranate plants with signs of rotting fruit in Labuhan Merak was 88.3%, the percentage of fruit rot on one pomegranate plant was 73.5%, and the percentage incidence of Aspergillus spp. on rotten pomegranates attacked by moths is 100% which means the damage is very high.
