Abstract

Rice (Oryza sativa L.) is the primary staple crop most widely required for consumption in Indonesia, but rice productivity remains relatively low on lands affected by salinity stress. Salinity stress in rice-growing fields is determined by the soil’s salt content. The application of POC (liquid organic fertilizer) is an innovative practice that may help address this constraint. This study was conducted to determine the effects of several LOC concentrations on the growth and yield of rice cultivated on saline land. The experiment took place in a salinity-affected rice production area in Kepanjen Village, Gumukmas Subdistrict, Jember Regency. A single-factor randomized complete block design was used, with POC concentrations as treatments at four levels (7.5 mL/L, 10 mL/L, 12.5 mL/L, and 15 mL/L) and nine replications, resulting in 36 experimental units. The results indicated that POC application influenced both growth and yield of rice. Application at 15 mL/L produced the highest values for number of leaves, number of tillers, panicle length, root length, moisture content, dry grain weight, 100-seed weight, and yield potential. The 12.5 mL/L treatment did not differ significantly from the 15 mL/L treatment for plant height, number of panicles, and number of grains
