dc.description.abstractThis paper discusses about the ethnography of communication as part of the study macrolinguistic or interdisciplinary linguistic studies. The Ethnography of communication studies is one of the qualitative research approach that is a natural paradigm, interpretive, and produces descriptive daten that specializes in the discovery of various patterns of communication used by humans in a speech community. So, ethnography of communication is the sociolinguistic approaches to browse for the use of language in general, that is associated with social values and cultural. He is a branch of linguistic anthropology specifically to understand the culture behind the context of the communication that occurs in the speech community. The description purpose of ethnography is to provide a global understanding about the views and values of a society as a way to explain the attitudes and behavior of its members is reflected in the pattern of communication. The scope of ethnographic of communication studies, namely: the patterns and function of communication; The nature and definition of speech community; means of communication; The components of communicative competence; The relationship of language to the world view and social organization; linguistic and social universals and linqualities.en_US
