The research on effect of propylene glycol in release rate of meloxicam from Carbopol gel base in vitro has been carried out. Ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric analytical techniques were used for the meloxicam analysis. The validated methods were employed for the determination of meloxicam in the sample solutions taken from the receptor fluid. It was found that the release of meloxicam through cellophane membrane was well described by the Higuchi model. The research used concentrations of propylene glycol as much as 0, 20, 30, and 40%. The results of stability test including organoleptic, pH, measuring of viscosity, homogenity and release test used USP dissolution apparatus with diffusion cells. The result showed that meloxicam gel contained propylene glycol 40 % was the release rate of 230,505 µg/ cm 2 / menit 1/2en_US
