    The Implication of Free Practice in Duolingo English Test on Student’ Speaking Skill and Their Experience for IISMA Program

    Abstract
    English proficiency is important to master for participation in international programs such as IISMA, but students are often constrained by time and access to effective speaking training. The focus of this study was to examine the implications of Free Practice in the Duolingo English Test (DET) on students' speaking skill and their experiences in preparing for the IISMA program. Using qualitative research methods, data was collected through semi-structured interviews and DET test results from two management students at a university in East Java. The main findings cover six categories: the initial engagement experience of using Free Practice in DET, feelings during using Free Practice, evaluation of the experience, analysis of performance, development of impression ability to meet IISMA requirements, and action plans for future improvement. The results showed that Free Practice in DET was proven to help participants understand question patterns, improve confidence and English language skill with a score of 7 - 8 out of 10, although there were some obstacles such as lack of creativity, anxiety, and internet technical problems. It is hoped that this research will provide benefits for teachers in using this app in learning and encourage further research to explore its implications on other skill.
