Gambaran Bedside Handover di Rumah Sakit Tingkat III Baladhika Husada Jember

Abstract

Bedside handover is one of nursing care activities that involve patient actively during nurse-patient interaction in the bedside of patient. Patient can ask all they want to know about their health condisition and request for their care plan. This study aims to describe bedside handover activities in inpatient ward at Baladhika Husada Hospital in Jember. This research used a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The respondents of this study were 100 patients in the inpatient ward who were obtained using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected using bedside report item survey questionnaire to measure bedside handovers based on patient perception. The results showed the median of bedside handover was 33 with minimum and maximum values of 10-40, indicated that the bedside handover from patient’s point of view was in good chategory. Baladhika Husada Hospital has implemented the bedside handover, however there are problems occure during its’ implementation such as, high burden of work nurses, limited time, lack of understanding, and awareness of nurses regarding bedside handovers.This research to provide an overview of nurses about bedside handovers, so that it can be used as an evaluation material by nurses regarding the results that have been made so far. Nurses need to increase bedside handovers for better health services.
