Abstract: Foot care in patients with type 2 DM is one of the most effective strategies in minimizing complications. Appropriate foot care behavior can reduce the risk of injury, infection, and amputation in patients. The purpose of this study was to identify the foot care behavior in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The design of study was quantitative descriptive with cross-sectional approach. The sample used in this study were 115 patients with a purposive sampling technique. The Nottingham Assessment Instrument of Functional Footcare (NAFF) was applied to measure the behavior of foot care. The results of study obtained that the majority of respondents had poor foot care behavior (67,8%). The worst of foot care behavior was on injury prevention indicators where all of the patients (100%) do not use a bathroom thermometer and the best indicator is the injury prevention indicator with the item not placing the foot on the radiator which is 113 people (98.3%). Poor foot care behavior can occur due to lack of information related to diabetic foot management. Providing education related to foot care is important for DM patients to improve their understanding of appropriate foot care.
