In my presentation, I gave a brief history of English-medium instruction (EMI) in Indonesia and described the controversies behind its reversal. These controversies are as expressed in the narratives of the expert witnesses of both the supporters and the critics of EMI in the legal document governing the termination of Indonesian EMI. The data are originally in Bahasa Indonesia. I translated the extracts presented in this paper into English only for the readers' benefit.en_US
