Abstract: Background: Periodontitis is one of periodontal disease, which is an infection or inflammation of the periodontal tissues. Periodontitis patients exhibit risk of the number of fibrinogen circulation. Enhacement of fibrinogen levels i s associated with systemic inflammation. The enhancement in blood eases erythrocytes and platelets aggregation. This condition was suspected that i nflamation accompanied the erythrocyte sedimentati on rate and platelet aggregation. Objective: To identi fy platelet aggregation level and erythrocyte sedimentation rate i n periodontitis rat models. Materials and Methods: The animal models were divided into 4 groups: control group, P1 group with treatment for 14 days, P2 group for 21 days of treatment and P3 group for 28 days of treatment. Animal models were treated with Porphyromonas gingivalis injection and wi re ligature at the left lower jaw in order to experience periodontitis. Platelet aggregation was observed by spectrophotometric and microscopic methods, while erythrocyte sedimentation rate used westegren method. Results and conclusions: There was si gni ficant increase the number of platelet aggregation and erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) in periodontitis rat models.
