Abstract: | Background: Preeclampsia is a disorder of pregnancy characterized by high blood pressure and a large amount of protein in the urine. Including the literacy, the most horrible effect of maternal severe preeclampsia was the asphyxia of newborn baby. It could happen until 44 % birth. In 2012, Soebandi hospital noted that 423 mother with preeclampsia which 319 were severe preeclampsia. The purpose of this study was to determine the picture of severe preeclampsia with the asphyxia of newborn baby and analyze the factors that influence of it. That factors were quality of antenatal care, the number of births, and mother’s body mass index. Methods: This study used retrospective analytic research using secondary data on maternal and neonatal care Soebandi hospital Jember Regency. The sample size of this research were 115 pregnant womens who were selected by purposive sampling on the 2015. Non-parametric chi-square test was used to analyze data. Results: The quality of antenatal care was taken from pearson chi square 1,875 with p value 0,171. Based on the number of births, p value was 0,231. Conversely, there were relationship that body mass index influenced severe preeclampsia and asphyxia of newborn baby (p value 0,025). It enabled the occurrence of dangerous pregnancy complications for mother and the infant. Conclusion: factor that influenced severe eclampsia and asphyxia in newborn baby is mother’s body mass index. It means when the mother has high BMI (obesity), the complication of pregnancy can occur anytime like severe preeclampsia and asphyxia of the newborn baby. Quality of antenatal care and number of births do not prove relation between it. |
