dc.description.abstract | Bacteria colonization is the presence of bacteria in the urine caused by the pathogenic bacteria. The most common bacteria found in the urinary tract is Escherichia coli that is 80% of the precipitating factors of bacterial colonization acquired in the hospital due to urinary catheters usage. Anatomically, catheter in women is more at risk. Catheter care can prevent infection and maintain the smoothness of the urine flow in the catheter drainage system. Povidone iodine 10% is an antiseptic that have an important role in the treatment of germ in catheter used in Dr. Soebandi Hospital Jember. The study was pre experimental design with one group pretestposttest design. The samples were 10 people who were collected with purposive sampling technique. The procedure of urinary chateter care in the study use the standart operating procedure of the Hospital. We perform tretment for 5 days, whereas urine sample taken on day 0 as pre test and day 5 as post test. Urinary catheter care beginning on day 1 until day 5. The data analized by using dependent t test with a significance level of 5 %. Results showed highly significant differences with p value (0.004) <α = 0.05. Results of data analysis obtained t value of -3,911 which means Povidone iodine 10% is effective for the refuse of the Escherichia coli colonization. The suggestion of this study is how the nurse could give cathether care by using povidone iodine 10% everyday which is according to standart operational procedure. | en_US |
