Abstract: A factor that should be considered in the use of irrigation is the loss of smear layer on root canal walls, therefore the prepared root canal can be irrigated using chemicals or natural materials, such as hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) 3%, and Mangosteen pericarp extract (Garcinia mangostana L.) 100%. But this action may cause the dentin tubules closed. Objective: Knowing the ability of mangosteen pericarp extract (Garcinia mangostana L.) 100% in cleaning the smear layer on the canal walls. Method: The type of this study is a laboratory experimental with post test only control group design. Total sample is 10 teeth samples that have been preparated and irrigated consisting of to two groups: 5 control sample and 5 treatment sample. Shooting tool used to observe the cleanliness level in the walls of the root canal dentin is Scanning Electrone Microscope (SEM). Data were analyzed with Kolmogrov Smirnov test adjusted for multiple comparisons using Independent T-test method was used. Result: Score mode (frequency distribution) hygiene smear layer on the surface of the root canal walls were irrigated with two ingredients are the same, which is 3 (only slightly orifice open dentin tubules and smear layer covered most of the surface). Conclusion:. Mangosteen pericarp extract is able to clean the smear layer but there is no significant difference between the two materials irrigation
