dc.description.abstract | The research focus was to determining performance profile of elementary students in finishing test items of math-science with the theme dealing with coffee cultivation. The research subject was the fifth grade students of elementary level who leave at surrounding coffee plantation in Jember regency, East Java, Indonesia. Students’ performance profile is grouped into four levels, namely, Novice, Apprentice, Practitioner, and Expert. After students are asked to finish the problem dealing with coffee, the researcher analyzed students’ answers, did in-depth interview as data triangulation step, and determined students’ performance level based on test result and interview. The research result was the majority (80%) of elementary students in surrounding coffee plantation was classified into Apprentice level, 16% was Practitioner level, and 4% was Novice level. Students’ profile in the level of Apprentice is able to: (1) have a right strategy in determining the way of in osculating coffee rod, and designing coffee plantation effectively, (2) give logic reason and verification process in determining the steps of plantation design and coffee rod inoculation incoherently yet., (3) draw the steps of inoculating rod coffee and design the coffee plantation based on the rule happened in the society, and (4) construct the mathematics concept (width and angle) and science (coffee proliferation with in osculation) when they finish test items though they did not construct the concept maximally yet, such as two-dimensional figure concept.. | en_US |
