dc.description.abstract | The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn written by Mark Twain demonstrates the division of social classes in nineteenth century. He shows the two dominant classes such as bourgeois and proletariat. The bourgeois class is rich people with the mean of production and can get many workers. The proletariat class is poor people who work for the bourgeois as slave. In this novel, the writer distinguishes that bourgeois are the white people and the proletariat are black ones. This article contains three questions which conduct to the goal of the research. The first problem is to know and explore how is class struggle reflected by the main character. Then the second problem is the causes of the struggle which does by the main character and the last one is the consequences of this struggle. Sociology of literature is the approach to use in this research. This article also applies the theory of Karl Marx about class struggle which leads to the social change in capitalist society mainly social change for the proletariat or working class. Jim is a black men and he is from the working class. He struggles for getting his freedom, his right and living in peace as white people. The result of this study is to know Jim’s struggle leads to the class consciousness even materialistic way especially money takes a big responsible in capitalist society. | en_US |
