dc.description.abstract | This article describes an advocacy for helping the regeneration process of panjak/pengrawit (music players) of Banyuwangi traditional music based on a problem related to the lack of panjak in traditional art perfomances. The special goals of this activity are: (1) founding an sanggar seni (an informal art educational institution) which focuses on the traditional musical trainings for children and teenagers; (2) completing minimum musical maintainances for the trainings; and, (3) formulating methods of trainings. For reaching the goals, we apply some methods. The first is in-depth interview and focus group discussion to comprehend problems, potentials, and the plann to found a sanggar. The second is workshops to discuss the founding of a sanggar, methods of trainings, and its managements. The third is the trainings by some senior panjaks that are appointed based on the agreement between the team and partners. The forth is evaluation of the done and on-going trainings. The results of this activity are as follow. Firstly, the sanggar for training children and teenagers had been found with the name, Omah Seni Kuwung Wetan (The Art Home of Eastern Rainbow), led by Dwi Agus Cahyono, in Rejoagung Village, Subdistrict Srono, Banyuwangi. Secondly, we had bought a set of Banyuwangian gamelan consists of saron, demung, peking, gong, pantus, angklung, and kendang. Thirdly, the tutors use a combination of orally and written method of trainings interactively. Fourthly, the supports of various individuals and institutions are important for its sustainability, so this sanggar can be the pioneer of Banyuwangian panjak regeneration. | en_US |
