Abstract: In Gudang Hamlet, Pesisir Village, District of Besuki, Situbondo Regency, a number of fishermen's wives are not only busy with domestic activities i.e. providing food for the family, washing family clothes, managing finances, cleaning the house and educating children. More than that, as a consequence of the husband’s job as fishermen whose income is in fact irregular, the fishermen's wives have dual roles for the sake of fulfilling their daily needs. In this research, it was found three wives of fishermen with a dual role, that is, their roles in public and domestic sphere. This article writing is to describe and analyze the role of the fishermen's wives in domestic and public sphere. This research is a descriptive research using a qualitative approach. The research location was in Gudang Hamlet, Pesisir Village, District of Besuki, Situbondo Regency. Informants were determined using the snowball method involving three principal informants and the other 3 additional informants. Data were collected by indepth interviews, documentation and non-participant observation. In testing the validity of data, the research used triangulation technique. The results showed that the wives’ role in the domestic sphere included providing food and drinks for the family, washing family clothes, cleaning the house, managing household finances and educating children. Their public roles are, among others, as a fishmonger, the fish price determiner and money loan seeker
