dc.description.abstractThe rise of violence and violations of human rights occurred in the Syrian internal conflicts put Bashar Al-Assad regime in international pressure. Moreover, Bashar Al-Assad regime is overshadowed by the threat of military intervention through the UN Security Council. Getting the pressure, Russia is present to provide assistance to Bashar Al-Assad regime. The assistance provided by Russia is in the form of diplomatic support, that is, veto against the UN Security Council resolution draft that could threaten the existence of Bashar Al-Assad regime. In addition, Russia also provides weapon support for Bashar regime to fight against armed opposition groups. This research used qualitative method which aimed to understand Russia’s support for Bashar al-Assad regime in Syrian internal conflicts by using the concepts of national interests and geopolitics and geostrategy. The results showed that Russia has interests to support Bashar Al-Assad regime. The Russia’s interests consisted of economic interests, political and strategic interests and security interests.en_US
