One of technology application in the agricultural sector is the use of tools and agricultural machinery. The use of tools and agricultural machinery developed in order to work more easily and efficiently. One attempt to improve efficiency in farming is the using of mechanical force, such as the using of power tiller (hand tractors) for land preparation regarding to labor and time.. To optimize the use of hand tractors can be done by using a system of Agricultural Mechanization Selective or basic Equivalence of Technology (Technology Appropriatness). To maximize the use of power tiller on farms in the village Sumber Kalong and to evaluate the performance of power tiller socially and economically, it is necessary to do the analysis of the use and need for power tiller on the agricultural land in the village. Therefore, this research aims to assessing technology appropriatness and economic analysis of hand tractor usage. The methods used are suvey, interviews, and direct observation. Based on the results Desa Sumber Kalong which has 237,3 Ha of fields require power tiller 10 units, existing tractors are 12 units. Technology appropriatness assessment in Sumber Kalong for technoware value in the five villages is appropriate, value humanware quite capable in three villages, while two other villages can not afford, while the value infoware and organoware in all villages quite appropriate Power tillers are also viable financial aspect since it has 21.936.330 NPV; 12,15% of IRR; and 1,1 of BCR.en_US
