dc.description.abstractThis Research was intended to improve the eighth grade students’ active participation and their vocabulary achievement by using English pop songs at SMPN 1 Glagah, Banyuwangi in the 2013/2014 Academic Year. The research design was Classroom Action Research (CAR). The research subjects were the students of class VIII B at SMPN 1 Glagah, Banyuwangi. The data were collected through the vocabulary test and observation. The data were analyzed statistically. The result showed that there was an improvement on the percentage of the students who got score 70 or higher. It improved from 72% in cycle 1 to 83.3% in cycle 2. Besides, there was also an improvement on the percentage of the students who were actively participated in the teaching learning process of vocabulary by using English Pop Songs. It improved from 80.6% in cycle 1 to 84.8% in cycle 2. It means that the use of English Pop Songs in the teaching learning process of vocabulary could improve the students’ active participation and their vocabulary achievement in 2 cycles. Therefore, it is suggested to the English teacher to use English Pop Songs as media and material in teaching vocabulary.en_US
