Abstract: | Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) is the name of one of the terrorist groups operating in Southeast Asia. JI is a transformation of Darul Islam (DI) movement which had operated in about 1950 and aimed to establish the Islamic State of Indonesia (NII). United States is a powerful country which is frequently subjected to acts of terrorism as a result of the U.S. foreign policy which is always double-standard when it deals with Muslim countries and Israel. This research examines the approaches undertaken by the United States in dealing with Jemaah Islamiyah in Southeast Asia during the administration of George W. Bush. This research used descriptive-qualitative data analysis. Data used were only secondary data which means that the observation of the studied object was not carried out directly but was obtained from books, published journals, articles or reports in mass media, papers considered relevant, as well as information found on the internet. U.S. approach in dealing with Jemaah Islamiyah era of the Bush administration is conducting collaborations in various fields , namely the political and military fields , the field of law enforcement and extradition , and the provision of aid and economic sanctions. |
