dc.description.abstract | ASEAN Multilateral Agreement on Air Services or often called ASEAN Open Sky is an agreement among ASEAN members regarding air traffic management. The objective of open sky establishment is to liberalize the whole air traffic. As the country with the highest number airports among all members of ASEAN, Indonesia needs to reconsider to sign the ratification of the open sky in 2015. Singapore condition as the pioner of the open sky agreement is contrast to Indonesia, which has 26 international airports. Singapore only has one international airport . Therefore, the Indonesian government reconsider to temporarily open 5 airports; they are Soekarno - Hatta Airport in Jakarta, Kuala Namu Airport in Medan, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Ngurah Rai Airport in Denpasar, Sultan Hasanuddin Airport in Makassar. The results of open sky agreements in Indonesia show that economic opportunities in some sectors will go up automatically as trading activity has increased. The sectors that have increased include insurance, fuel, tourism and commerce sectors. Moreover, socially this will optimize Indonesian human resources capability as motivated by foreign competitors. The challenge supports the improvement ogf the airport infrastructure capacity, airline operators as well as human resources development and improvement of flight schools | en_US |
