Abstract: Structure is one of the language components that students have to master in studying English since mastering structure helps the students to deal with the language skills. In learning structure, students do not only have to know it forms but also the function of itself, where and when it is appropriate to be used. Therefore, the English teacher should help students to understand the subjects more easily. It can be done by the use of interesting and appropriate teaching media that can improve the students’ achievement in learning structures. One of the teaching media that can be used is Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation. The research design was experimental research which was intended to know whether or not there is a significant effect of using Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation on the ninth grade students’ structure achievement at SMPN 1 Jenggawah in the 2011/2012 academic year. The research area was SMPN 1 Jenggawah which was purposively chosen. The population of this research was the ninth grade students of SMPN 1 Jenggawah in the 2011/2012 academic year that consists of five classes (excluding the superior class, IX A). In determining the subjects of the research, the homogeneity analysis that was based on the students’ English semester score by using ANOVA was conducted. Based on the result of ANOVA analysis, the population of the research was homogenous, so that lottery was directly conducted in determining the experimental group and control group. The primary data of this research was collected from the students’ post test, while the supporting data were gained trough interview and documentation. The primary data were collected then analyzed by using independent sample t-test in SPSS. Based on the calculation, the mean score of the experimental group was higher than the mean score of the control group (77.89 70.11). The result of the t-test analysis was lower than 0.05 (0.026 0.05). The research results proved that there was a significant effect of using Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation on the ninth grade students’ structure achievement at SMPN 1 Jenggawah in the 2011/2012 academic year. Therefore, it is suggested that the English teacher use Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation as an alternative teaching media in teaching structures.
