PENGEMBANGAN POTENSI KAWASAN WISATA BAHARI WATU ULO SEBAGAI MODEL PENGEMBANGAN EKOWISATA BERBASIS COMMUNITY BASED TOURISM

Abstract

The research focus was on the ecotourism development based on community based tourism (CBT) of Watu Ulo marine tourism area in Jember Regency of east java. The research outcome constituted a model of ecotourism development based on local cmmunities. This concept was supported by that of ecotourism, sustainable tourism, institutional concept, and the concept of social empowerment. The research used qualitative method with naturalistic paradigm. The data were collected with observing the tourism potency, in-depth-interviewing the related parties such as manager, tourism service, chamber of national park, and local society. The aspects of study included: 1) ecoturism market aspect, 2) ecoturism product, 3) stakeholders institution development, 4) local society involvement, and 5) ecoturism tour planning. The analysis was done institutional analysis, stakeholders analysis, ecoturism sufficient criteria analysis.
