Abstract: Malaria is one of the most prevalent infectious diseases in the tropical countries. The resistance of Plasmodium for many synthetic antmalarial drugs has encouraged the scientist to look for new drugs from the nature. Duranta repens L. fruit has been used traditionally to treat malaria. This research study was conducted to examine the antimalarial activity of methanolic extract and chloroformic fraction of D. repens L. fruit to male mice infected with Plamodium berghei. The antimalarial activity assay was carried out using Peter’s Test. Twenty one mice, weighing 20-30 g,were divided into 7 groups as treatments, three mice each group. The first group as negative control, the second – seventh groups were treated with the concentration of 12.5, 25, 50, 75, 100, and 150 mg/kg BW. The results showed that the IC50 of methanolic extract of D. repens L. fruit was 47.2 mg/kg BW, while the IC50 of chloroformic fraction of D. repens L. fruit was 38.9 mg/kg BW. So it can be concluded that the D. repens L. fruit is potentially developed as antimalarial drug.
