Pengaruh Pendidikan Kesehatan Media Komik Terhadap Tingkat Kesiapsiagaan Bencana Gempa Bumi dan Tsunami Siswa SDN Sumberejo 09 Ambulu Jember

Abstract

Indonesia is located in the ring of fire area at the meeting point between the Eurasian Plate, the Indonesia-Australian Plate and the Pacific Plate. This meeting was the source of the megathrust earthquake in the East Java region. This makes Indonesia have the threat of earthquakes and tsunamis along the southern coast of Java. The level of preparedness of children in Indonesia as a vulnerable group in facing potential earthquakes and tsunamis needs to be increased. This study aims to determine the effect of comic media health education on the level of Earthquake and Tsunami Preparedness of student at SDN Sumberejo 09 Ambulu Jember. The sample of this study were students in SDN Sumberejo 09 Ambulu Jember. The reaserch design used quasi-experiment using the non-equivalent control group design and probability sampling with the proportionate stratified random sampling approach. Data collection used a characteristic questionnaire and earthquake and tsunami preparedness questionnaire by LIPI-UNESCO 2006. The result of the study were that there were differences in the level of preparedness before and after the intervention in the intervention group with a p-value of 0.000 (<0.05), while there was no difference in preparedness between the data before and after in the control group with a p-value is 0.101 (>0.005). Therefore an effect of providing health education using comic media on the level of preparedness of student at SDN Sumberejo 09 Ambulu jember where the p-value is 0.000 (<0.05). Comic media is proven to be able in increasing the level of preparedness of elementary school students.
