Abstract: Farmers are at risk of various health problems that affect productivity and long-term health status, including chronic diseases such as Diabetes Mellitus (DM). Self-care is essential for DM patients to maintain blood sugar levels to prevent complications and improve their quality of life. Poor self-care will have a negative impact on the quality of life. This study analyzed the correlation between self-care and quality of life in farmers with type 2 DM. The method was an observational study with a cross-sectional approach. Eighty-four respondents were obtained in this study by a quota sampling technique. Data were collected using The Summary Diabetes Self-Care Activities (SDSCA) and Diabetes Quality of Life (DQOL) questionnaires and analyzed by Spearman-rank with a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that self-care had a mean value of 3,43 days, while the quality of life had a median value of 81.00 (min-max=74-91). A medium positive correlation existed between self-care and quality of life (p-value= 0.000; r= 0.439), which means the better the self-care, the higher the quality of life. Providing interventions to improve self-care is essential to increase the quality of life in farmers with type 2 DM.
