Abstract: The use of biodiesel in diesel engine fuel blends can reduce HC (hydrocarbon) and CO (carbon monoxide) emissions but there are constraints such as increased fuel consumption, and NOx emissions. Ethanol as an oxygenated fuel with high heat of vaporization and oxygen content supports the reduction of NOx and particulate emissions. This study will investigate the effect of ethanol addition to hazelnut seed biodiesel fuel blend with pertadex on emission content and diesel engine performance. Tests were conducted on a YANMAR TF 85MH-di diesel engine with variations in engine speed from 1500 rpm to 2100 rpm and coupled to a generator with a constant load of 1000 watt. The results showed that the B40 fuel mixture achieved the highest average effective power generated of 723.68 Watts and the B40 fuel mixture also achieved the highest average torque generated of 3,761 Nm. The E10B40 fuel blend produced the best average specific fuel consumption of 492.19 g/kWh. The E10B40 fuel blend produced the best average thermal efficiency of 14.725%. The lowest average NOx emissions were produced by E10B40 fuel at 139.48 ppm. The lowest average CO2 emissions were produced by E10B40 fuel at 1.33%. The lowest average exhaust gas opacity was produced by E10B40 fuel at 2.13% HSU
