Background: Tooth extraction is the most common procedures in the field of dentistry. The indicator of successful tooth extraction is a perfect healing process, with re-epithelialization being one of its parameters. Certain conditions can hinder the wound healing process, such as Diabetes Melitus (DM). These conditions results in a prolonged healing process. Based on previous research, the skin of Arabica coffee fruit has been shown to have the effect to accelerate wound healing and exhibit antidiabetic effects. Objective: The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of Coffee arabica fruit skin powder to re-epithelialization at the tooth socket post extraction in Wistar rats induced with diabetes melitus. Methods: This study used 27 Wistar rats induced with DM using a Streptozotocin (STZ) dose 40 mg/kg body weight of rats, divided into 3 groups. There was a negative control group that did not receive any therapy, a positive control group treated with metformin, and a treatment group given Arabica coffee fruit skin. Each group consist of 9 rats were divided into 3 subgroups based on day of observation: 3rd, 7th, and 10th day post-extraction. Re-epithelialization was observed in the thickest and thinnest part of the epithelium that covers the tooth socket. Result: Reepithelialization after tooth extraction showed an improvement in the coffee fruit skin treatment group compared with negative control group and positive control group. Conclusion: Arabica coffee fruit skin powder has an effect on enhancing the re-epithelialization process in tooth sockets post extraction in Wistar rats induced with DM, indicated by a better average epithelial thickness compared to the control group.en_US
