This study examines the correlation between Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) and smartphone addiction among adolescents in urban high schools in Jember. As technology advances, smartphones have become an integral part of daily life, particularly for adolescents, who are at a higher risk of developing dependency and associated mental health issues. The primary aim of this research is to analyze how FoMO contributes to smartphone addiction among adolescents, identify demographic characteristics, and assess the levels of FoMO and smartphone addiction. Using a quantitative, cross-sectional design, data were collected from 298 students through the Fear of Missing Out Scale (FoMOS) and the Smartphone Addiction Scale (SAS). Descriptive and inferential statistical analyses were used to evaluate the data and explore the relationship between the variables. The results reveal a significant positive relationship between FoMO and smartphone addiction (r = 0.278, p < 0.05), indicating that adolescents with higher levels of FoMO are more prone to smartphone addiction. The study highlights the increasing prevalence of smartphone addiction driven by FoMO, emphasizing the need for educational and psychological interventions to address this growing concern among adolescents. In conclusion, understanding the impact of FoMO on smartphone addiction is crucial for developing effective strategies to support adolescent mental health and well-being in an increasingly digital world.en_US
