Abstract: | The scientific name of the durian fruit is Durio zibethinus. It is commonly referred to as "The King of Fruits" because to its superior status among other fruits. Durian is an annual tropical fruit that thrives in countries like Indonesia. The province of East Java is the primary producer of durian fruit in Indonesia, accounting for the highest production volume. Jember Regency is recognised by the Central Bureau of Statistics as one of the leading regions in durian fruit production. The objective of this study is to ascertain the distribution of land suitability classes for durian plants on the western slope of Raung. Additionally, it intends to provide specific land management recommendations that can maximise productivity. The research was carried out from May 2023 to December 2024. Soil sampling was conducted in the Silo District of Jember Regency. The stages of this study methodology consist of a preliminary survey including the creation of maps, followed by field surveys for the purpose of soil sampling, and concluding with a post-survey that involves the analysis of the collected samples in a laboratory setting. The research findings indicate that the land suitability for durian crops in Silo District may be classified into three categories: S2, S3, and N. The land suitability class for durian crops in Silo District is within the N, S2, S1 category. Once the prospective site suitability class is determined, advice can be provided for the management or cultivation of durian plants in Silo District. These recommendations include implementing a sprinkle or drip drainage system, applying 36.9 kg of KCL fertiliser per plant, and providing S fertiliser. |
