Tooth loss is a condition of teeth that have come out of their socket. Loss of teeth in the anterior has an impact in the form of difficulty in pronouncing words and also affects aesthetics. While the posterior teeth affect the difficulty in mastication function. Tooth loss in the elderly leads to reduced mastication which has an impact on the possibility of greater loss of cognitive function. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship of tooth loss to cognitive function in the elderly at UPT Social Services Tresna Werdha Jember. The research design used was a cross-sectional analytical survey study. Subject capture using purposive total sampling technique. The number of subjects was 48 elderly respondents who experienced tooth loss. Data collection using Mini-Mental State Examination (MMSE) questionnaire that will be given to respondents. The data obtained were then analyzed using the Spearman non-parametic test to determine the relationship of tooth loss to cognitive function in the elderly. The results of the significance test showed a value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.01) which means that the hypothesis in this study is accepted or there is a relationship between tooth loss and cognitive function in the elderly at UPT Social Services Tresna Werdha Jember. The interpretation of the correlation coefficient is 0.487. The correlation results are in the range of 0.40-0.599 so that it can be interpreted that the relationship of tooth loss to the cognitive function of the elderly in the UPT Social Services Tresna Werdha Jember is classified as a moderate correlation with a positive correlation direction. This can be interpreted as the more elderly who experience tooth loss (the fewer teeth) in the group category > 20 teeth, the worse the cognitive function of the elderly.en_US
