Abstract: The design of the sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate plant from sodium sulfite and sulfur with a production capacity of 35,000 tons/year to meet domestic demand depends on the import sector. The raw materials used are sodium sulfite and sulfur. This factory will be built in the Kujang Cikampek Industrial Area (KIKC), Cikampek District, Karawang Regency, West Java with an operating time of 330 days/year. The production process consists of the process of preparing raw materials and forming products. Preparation of sodium sulfite as raw material is diluted with a ratio of sodium sulfite and water 1:22 in a solvent tank at 80oC and 1 atm pressure. The product formation process begins with the reaction between sodium sulfite and sulfur solutions to form sodium thiosulfate solution with a ratio of 1:4 in the reactor (CSTR) at 80oC and 1 atm pressure. The sodium thiosulfate solution then undergoes a crystallization process in a crystallizer at a temperature of 44oC and a pressure of 1 atm to obtain sodium thiosulfate pentahydrate with a purity of 99%. There is a recycling product in the form of sulfur which is reused in the formation of sodium thiosulfate solution. Process support units consist of water supply units originating from the Parungkadali waterfall reservoir and the Cikao river, steam supply units from boilers, electricity supply units from PLN, Jawa Satu Power PLTGU and generators, fuel supply units in the form of diesel and diesel fuel, and processing units. waste. The form of the company is a Limited Liability Company (PT) and employs 200 employees consisting of shift, non-shift and contract employees. Based on economic evaluation, the Annual Cash Flow (ACF) percentage is 36.72%, Pay Out Time (POT) is 2.45 years, and the Break Event Point percentage is 58%. Based on these parameters, this factory is feasible to build.
