Psikoanalisis Tokoh Rukayah dalam Serial Netflix Gadis Kretek

Abstract

The Indonesian Netflix original series, Cigarette Girl (Gadis Kretek), directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah, premiered at the Busan International Film Festival 2023 and was released on Netflix on November 2, 2023. This series quickly gained popularity, reaching the 10th position globally for non-English Netflix series in its first week. This study analyzes the character Rukayah, Jeng Yah's younger sister, who is most affected by the main conflict in the story. Using Freud's psychoanalysis, which divides human personality into the id, ego, and superego, the study explores Rukayah's attitudes in episodes 3, 4, and 5, which are the focus of this research. Narrative analysis reveals that Rukayah often exhibits coercive, selfish behaviors and tends to make unilateral decisions without careful consideration in dealing with conflicts caused by the main character.
