Abstract: Teachers have functioned as facilitators to facilitate the student's learning during the teaching-learning process run in the classroom. Besides, teachers also have an impactful role in making changes in the school primarily in the classroom. Thus, the existence of teachers is required tremendously, especially to influence the motivation dealing with students' success in learning achievement. Based on the previous studies reviewed, it was revealed that most of the studies were conducted quantitatively to know the impacts of teachers’ strategies on students’ motivation. Studies on teachers’ experiences in motivating students by applying narrative studies were rarely conducted. Therefore, this study intends to find out the experiences of a good EFL teacher in giving learning motivation to students through narrative research. This study involved a good EFL teacher using semi-structured interview to collect the data. The results of the study revealed that a good EFL teacher experienced different feelings while implementing the Basic Psychological Needs to give learning motivation to students, namely happiness and sadness. Finally, this study recommends other EFL teachers implement the Basic Psychological Needs to foster the student’s enthusiasm for learning English.
