Abstract: | Background: Indonesia is a country that has a greater potential threat of natural disasters than other regions. One of these disasters is an earthquake. The fact is that in Indonesia the level of community preparedness in dealing with earthquakes is mostly still at an unprepared level. Thus, there is a need for efforts to optimize knowledge about earthquake preparedness, one of which is through the snake ladder card educational game "Si Gemi". Aim: To determine the effect of the snakes and ladders card game "Si Gemi" on students' knowledge of earthquake preparedness at Arjasa Senior High School. Methods: This research is a quasi-experimental study using simple random sampling method. We recruited 256 respondents who were divided into two, namely, 128 experimental groups and 128 control group respondents. We used an earthquake knowledge questionnaire to collect data. The media for the experimental group was the snakes and ladders card game "Si Gemi" and for the control group was not given any treatment. Research data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon and Mann-Whitney tests. Results: The study showed that there was a significant difference in knowledge before and after being given the snakes and ladders card game "Si Gemi" with a p = 0.000. Conclusion: Giving the snake and ladder card game "Si Gemi" has an effect on knowledge because it contains educational elements that stimulate memory function and is packaged in an interesting and unique way so as to increase the enthusiasm of the participants when playing this game. |
