Abstract: Smoking behavior can exacerbate complications of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2. One of the macrovascular complications of Diabetes Mellitus Type 2 is impaired peripheral blood circulation. This study aims to determine the relationship between smoking behavior and peripheral blood circulation in farmers with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. The questionnaire used to measure smoking behavior was Glover-Nilsson, while the Ankle Brachial Index was used to measure peripheral blood circulation. The results of this study indicated that the majority of respondents had moderate smoking behavior of 57 (48.3%) respondents while peripheral blood circulation showed that most of the respondents were in the normal category 64 (54.2%). The results of bivariate analysis were carried out using the Kendall Tau C correlation test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed a p-value of 0.000 which means there is a relationship between smoking behavior and peripheral blood circulation. The content of free radicals in cigarettes can cause endothelial function to decrease resulting in inflammation of cells, platelets, LDL which becomes easily attached to the walls of blood vessels so that blood circulation disorders occur. Nurses can provide education about the dangers of smoking and prevention of the risk of peripheral blood circulation disorders in farmers with Type 2 DM.
