Introduction: During the thesis process, students might face difficulties both externally and internally. When students are unable to bounce back from these difficulties, it indicates low academic resilience. Low resilience can be cultivated in various ways, one of which is through increasing self-compassion. Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between levels of self-compassion and levels of academic resilience of nursing students working on their thesis at Jember University. Methods: This research used a cross-sectional analytical correlational design with a sample of 158 students using total sampling technique. Data collection used the Indonesian version of the SCS and ARS-30 questionnaires. Data analysis used Kendall's tau c with a significance level of 0.05. Results: The results of this study showed that self-compassion and academic resilience are mostly at a moderate level. Kendall’s Tau C test found a significant relationship between the level of self-compassion and the level of academic resilience of nursing students working on their thesis at Jember University (p = 0.000; r = 0.371). The higher the self-compassion, the higher the academic resilience. Conclusion: Self compassion and academic resilience are related to how a student can behave in dealing with problems on their academic. Therefore, having high self-compassion is expected to help someone to bounce back or be resilient in facing problems. So, increasing self-compassion and academic resilience in nursing students is considered important to facilitate nursing student to face the difficulties during thesis proces.en_US
