Abstract: Anxiety, characterized by widespread and vague worry, is closely related to feelings of uncertainty and helplessness. During pregnancy, anxiety can compromise maternal immunity, potentially impacting both the mother’s and the fetus’s health. Increased anxiety during the prenatal period can also elevate the risk of postpartum depression, prenatal infections, and exacerbate pre-existing maternal conditions. This study employed a literature review methodology, adhering to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and MetaAnalyses (PRISMA) guidelines to enhance systematic reporting. Comprehensive electronic databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect, were utilized for data collection. The review identified 11 articles published between 2023 and 2024, from 7 different countries. Most of the studies (64%) employed cross-sectional methods. The analysis revealed that the majority of pregnant women in their third trimester experienced anxiety levels ranging from mild to moderate. Specifically, 3 out of the 11 articles reported low anxiety levels among third-trimester pregnant women, while 8 indicated moderate anxiety levels. Variations in anxiety levels were influenced by several factors, including age, parity, occupation, education level, physical exercise, economic status, and social support, including family and husband.
